  2. Tbh, I think those are scapegoats to cover the real intent: imperialist expansion & resource-grabbing. It's my belief that control of the Black Sea coastline, & control of the newly discovered oil, gas, & mineral deposits in the Donbas -- valued in $ trillions -- are the primary goals -- evidenced by the annexation of Crimea & agitation in the Donbas right around the time the deposits were discovered. The occupation of the land bridge & annexation of the territories accomplishes those objectives. The fly in the ointment has been the fierce Ukrainian resistance & the staunch Western support. But I agree with you on how it will likely end.
