@ramsyrama um, yes likely he did in relative terms. Look at the cost of his expedition relative to the GDP of Spain at the time. Then compare it with the cost of Musk's Mars mission relative to US GDP.

@ramsyrama by extension of that logic, there should be no charity in developed countries because there are always more destitute people elsewhere in the world. Sorry, but "charity predicated on global hierarchical needs" is a not a concept with which I agree.

@ramsyrama there are people with no water who live on $1 a day. If 13% of what you give is $11,000 then you could give $44,000 & help even more people. Why don't you do that?
