@Adam Craig - tax is membership dues to live & enjoy benefits in an organized society. If you don't want to pay tax, move to a deserted island.

@Adam Craig - the land you own is part of organized society. Your ownership rights are protected by, wait for it, society. The infrastructure around your land -- society. The amenities, the police, fire, etc -- society. You want to live in an organized society & cherry pick what you pay for. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. I don't agree that my taxes pay for a military which I feel is absurdly bloated. Another person may feel he doesn't need roads because he never leaves his farm. There is no logical way to have a menu to choose from. The only thing you got right was the part about the majority dictating to the rest of us. But again, that's the way our society is organized. The majority rule. That's democracy. But no one is forcing you to follow along. If you really do not want to participate in the "theft", pick up & move to a deserted island. Or maybe an area of Somalia where you could buy land for pennies. No government, no taxes. Problem solved.

@JxJxJxJx - true. But "rewarded" is not the issue, is it? What is sufficient reward should be the question. Once you get past the (let's arbitrarily say) $50 or $100 million mark, the incremental gains should be taxed at much higher percentages. And the result would still be people with enormous wealth. A likely effect will be fewer "inflated" lifestyles. A lot of consumption by the uber wealthy has been inflated solely as status symbols.That is, the $100 million mansions will be less in demand.

@eralddavid6892 - Freidman & Ayn Rand are the cause of the mess we're in. Unfettered capitalism leads to corporate feudalism.

@eralddavid6892 - I have a Masters degree in economics. Friedman is not gospel truth in economics. https://www.businessinsider.in/strategy/the-economist-joseph-stiglitz-explains-why-he-thinks-the-late-milton-friedmans-ideas-have-contributed-to-rising-inequality-in-the-us/articleshow/63289341.cms

@EpicAlcatraz99 - you're a moron. Even simpler.

@eralddavid6892 - why are any of us taxed? It's our money, isn't it?

@EpicAlcatraz99 - already answered -- refer to the 3rd post on this thread.

@EpicAlcatraz99 - lol. The protections afforded you by the Constitution cost money. Ergo taxes. I rest my case.

@EpicAlcatraz99 - your word salad of talking points is not worth my time nor worth debating. I've made my position clear in my previous posts. I'm definitely not rehashing them for your benefit. Thanks for playing.

@EpicAlcatraz99 - explain to us how the government pays for defense, infrastructure, the justice system, etc.
1
@EpicAlcatraz99 - point out where in my previous posts I recommend "redistribution of wealth". I'll be waiting.

@EpicAlcatraz99 - stumped, huh? 😂😂😂

@AQuietNight - care to expound on that? And please don't cite the emergency facilities.
