  2. ​ @harveywallbanger1738 most places will accept a certified check or money order. For those that don't, make it out to yourself, travel with it, cash it at your destination, pay in cash. Many "payday advance" facilities offer free money orders so you don't even need a bank.

  3. It's dicey ... because once you declare it, they could ask you to prove that it's legit, & you're back to square one. Best practice is avoid traveling with cash, period. Take a cashier's check or money order on domestic travel. For international, send it by wire transfer, because you are required to declare money instruments as well.
