Because they don't give a f*** about collateral damage. In fact they will vindictively create more devastation than necessary just to punish the population -- then cynically blame it on Hamas. Their original aim was to flatten Gaza, expel the population to the Sinai, & annex the territory. But Egypt saw thru that game plan & refused to open the border.

@andrewguthrie2 the IRA, like Hamas, was a terrorist organization. So the question remains.
