  1. ​ @Mel_Gerrard I left 14 years ago. I thought I'd be back someday so I kept my property & later even bought some rentals. But as time goes by, I realize I have a lifestyle now that I could never replicate back in the US. So I'm sure I'll never return other than for visits.

  2. ​ @chairman76 the duration of the stay. You stay permanently, you're an immigrant. You go for an extended period but not permanent -- expat. Go for short visit -- tourist.
