  3. I don't think that war was ever winnable. When you have 90% of the country with a certain mindset, there's no way you can change that unless you want to spend 3 generations occupying the country. The evidence is clear: apart from Kabul which became more westernized, the rest of the country remained exactly the same, stuck in their beliefs & lifestyle.
