  3. I think the west can salvage this without going to war with Russia. Now that the Russians have withdrawn from western Ukraine, a coalition of 3 or 4 countries (US, UK, etc) should immediately send in "peacekeeping" troops at Ukraine's invitation. That will be a backstop in case the Russians defeat the Ukrainians in the east. Otherwise they'll just keep going west until they defeat the whole country. The question now is does the west have the guts to do this?
