All insurance companies are for profit. What you talking about Willis?

Your healthcare isn't free. You pay higher taxes to fund it. Americans are expected to work and buy health insurance which pays for all the same services you think you are getting for free. Different countries and different ways of doing things, I've read many comments from ex patriots living in countires with universal health care that buy private incurance bacuse they say the free healthcare sucks.

@RebellionTroll Would your country pay 10 million dollars to pay for life saving medical care to a non citizen who is visiting there on vacation?

@RebellionTroll My point is that your country doesn't pay for health care for people that don't pay taxes even though I read somewhere that Europe considers healtch care a human right. It's really not that much different in the US in that people are expected buy their own health insurance which in turns pays for their healthcare. There are free healthcare options for poor people as well. In the US, taxes are based on someone's income but from what little I researched tax rates across Europe are considerably higher than the tax brackets here in the US. We also don't have a VAT here. I'm willing to bet that European countries wouldn't continue to spend hundreds of thousand or millions on a patient if their prognosis wasn't good. Insurance companies have to make those difficult decisions as well since if they approved every claim they would go bankrupt and not be able to help anyone. UHC paid out 240 billion in claims last year but no one wants to talk about all those poeple they helped.
