If you're talking about the so called "cultural genocide" where 1 million people were sent to "concentration camps", I'm afraid you've been brainwashed by the western government...
Census records the Uighur population as 7.2 million in 1990, 8.4 million in 2000 and 10 million in 2010. If China is committing genocide, it's doing a pretty poor job at it, haha...
Hell, Tibetans and Uigurs have it pretty good actually, their education standards are FAR lower than that of the Chinese, makes it easier for them to get good grades.
As for the Catholics, they've been doing something that is clearly stated time and time again to be ILLEGAL IN CHINA. There are already designated locations in which they can practice their religion freely, yet they still perform it in secret, I wonder why? If they want to spread their religion and disrupt Chinese society, they should move to America...what they are doing is not welcome in China...
I don't see how persecuting people who don't abide by the law is "unethical" in any way, it's just that the West sees their standards as the "correct" way to do things.

Girish Radhakrishnan Maybe "controlled" was too strong of a word. "Influenced" would've been better.
Have you seen any country (besides NK of course) with as little western influence and dependence in it as China? All around the world, there are people quickly giving up their cultures and lifestyle in favour of the US, don't you think this is a little much? I know many people with different nationalities whose main goal is to move to the US to start a family or a business instead of in their country. I'm not saying that this is bad but many countries are simply blindly following the US without thinking of their themselves, basically converting themselves into a US lapdog.
So far, China is the only country who is standing up to American dominance, and as a Chinese, I'm pretty darn proud.
I'd just like to point out again, I'm not against America, I'm not against the countries who follow America, I'm just saying that instead of following the US, maybe it's time to grow up and make our own decisions....

"Saying whatever you want" is considered an abuse of Freedom Of Speech.
Freedom Of Speech is the right to state OPINIONS. Not to make jokes or hate messages to the government, freedom of speech is okay, but without proper enforcement, it can turn into something bad, which is what usually happens... It's the reason why there are rarely any riots in China anymore. The government is doing an excellent job, so why should you care? To cause disruption in society?
"Not being able to get information without a VPN", that my good sir, is entirely FALSE. You see, Google, YouTube and Twitter aren't the only sites out there you know? You only need a VPN to explore the western part of the internet, which is exactly what China doesn't want, it doesn't want to turn into a western led society, well at least not yet. Now this has got its upsides and downsides, but it's up to the Chinese government to decide, not the West.

Tom Müller Most of China’s debt is borrowed from itself, it’s internal. Not a major threat to any country. It’s debt goes into “useful things”, like infrastructure, so even if this debt bubble does exist, it won’t be difficult to pay off. In fact, China is more of a “lender” than a “borrower”, just look at all the controversy with China and Africa about the debt traps! Even you can’t deny it!
What’s funny is how everyone is talking about China’s debt bubble and how it’s going to “collapse this year!” for the past 2 decades, when it’s actually America who is more likely to pop, trillions of dollars in debt, China is actually worried that America won’t be able to pay off its debt it’s borrowing from China, even the IMF has urged America to reduce its debt...
It’s true that China’s growth IS indeed slowing down, but it’s still growing faster than most countries in the world, in fact, it’s growth rate is more than double than America’s Annual GDP Growth Rate, 3% to China’s 6.7% (2018).
You can ignore all of this evidence if you’d like, it won’t affect me or anyone else, if you still believe that China will collapse anytime soon then go right on ahead, it’s just giving China the advantage! ;)
(P.S. Your imagination doesn’t make fiction a reality. Not saying that it CANT happen, just telling you to take your imagination with the smallest grain of salt.)
