  2. Won’t lie to myself that Carrie Lam handled the situation well. She’s done a terrible job. But, the government has listened to your ridiculous “5 demands” (Released those arrested? Yeah, no). Loud and clear. But unfortunately for you, the government isn’t obligated to take orders from terrorists and privileged adolescents. Sorry, try your luck somewhere else.

  3. Only a weak and corrupt government would ever do that. There is no “easy solution” to situations like these. That’s reality for you, wake up. 1. Release the rioters? Over my dead body. 2. Withdraw the extradition bill? Done. 3. Carrie Lam resign? Perhaps, would be for the best. 4. Inquiry into police violence? After the nonsensical riots end? Sure. 5. Retraction of the “rioter” characterization? HAH! Sure thing! We’ll call you terrorists instead! A MUCH more fitting name! I highly doubt that the riots would stop even if Lam accepted the 5 demands. Once they get a taste of “victory”, they’ll keep pushing for more ridiculous demands.

  9. Zennoix riel3620 What do you mean that China “doesn’t fully own” Hong Kong? It merely has a different government, still a city of China regardless. And still, why can’t China cut trades with Hong Kong? Protestors distance themselves from China as much as possible, why not give them some of that “independence” that they so desire?

  13. Look at it from another perspective, perhaps the guys at SCMP are merely protecting themselves. Imagine what would happen if they labelled them as “rioters” (which they are), their HQ would get trashed, their employees harassed on the streets and on the internet, you know the drill.
