  1. Its not an invasion, its a continution of the Chinese Civil War, China is just going to finish it, Taiwan would do the same it if it were in China's shoes. Let me be very clear, China has absolutely ZERO intentions of attacking other countries, thats like saying that after the demise of the Confederate States, which country will be next? Utter. Trash. Talk. China wouldnt even benefit from it. If the US wants to interfere in the Chinese Civil War, so be it, let the US poke its nose into other people's business like it always does, let it be "justified" for "protecting" human rights and taking down "evil communism". China wont go down without a fight and will drag the US down along with it if it has to. Hopefully it never has to come to that.

  2. China doesnt need to waste its troops like that. It could surround Taiwan in a short amount of time, cut it off from all supplies and allied support and starve it to death whilst crippling Taiwan little by little with coordinated attacks. And im pretty sure most militaries in the world aren't "battle-hardened" like they used to be back in the day.

It's true that the Chinese military is not yet ready for an offensive attack onto any country with a developed military because its mainly for defensive purposes, but in a case like Taiwan...I'm pretty sure no matter how inexperienced China is, it would take Taiwan pretty easily.

  12. Agreed, China's only viable option is to wait it out and hope Taiwan reunites with China by slowly cutting off Taiwan's economic ties with other countries to isolate it, and only then Taiwan will have no choice but to reunify. I don't think this will happen in the next 50 years or so though.

  15. You're comparing the GDP of a state with a population of 24 million to a country with a population of 1.4 billion, comparing Taiwan to China is an unfair comparison. Instead, compare it to specific regions in China, when comparing Taiwan to a tier 1 city in China (Shenzhen, Shanghai etc.), their GDPs per capita are pretty similar, besides Shenzhen with a GDP per capital of 49,000 USD.

  17. 7Trident3 China isn't stupid enough to allow that to happen, Taiwan would surrounded and taken in weeks and maybe even days, along with a few smaller islands, it would prevent America from amassing enough firepower in time. Even if America did decide to go and help Taiwan, it wouldn't make much of a difference as China would've taken the coast of Taiwan by then, along with the capital, they wouldn't even be able to transport large amounts of soldiers onto the island without being swarmed. The battle would be lost before it even started. As for NATO and the rest of the gang, if you honestly think that a large-scale conventional war would be an option, you're dead wrong. What's more, most of NATO wouldn't be capable enough to be able to project enough power to hurt China significantly. To be honest, a scenario like this would be highly unlikely, no one would want to risk getting involved.

  22. This is 2019, not 1939. You can't simply base the outcome of a war based on a past experience. Sure, if the whole world wants to take on China because it merely wants to finish its own civil war, so be it, China will take the whole world down with it if it has to. Just be reminded that this is the Chinese Civil War, none of any other country's business in the first place.

  26. Trust me, no one wants a war between the top military powers on the planet, not even America. Assuming that America is the aggressor, it would just become Nam all over again. Besides, in the situation where the PRC invades Taiwan, its highly unlikely that most of the world would send in any troops, too much to lose and nothing to gain. NATO would impose sanctions on China for a while, Japan and America would definitely provide Taiwan with military support but seriously, Taiwan would be toast before any serious firepower arrives.

  31. Pretty sure that won't ever happen, why would the world get stirred up over Taiwan? It's only America that's concerned because Taiwan is a strategic location, the only aircraft carrier in the world that is unsinkable and its right on China's doorstep. The US will probably call on its allies for assistance but they would take at least a few days or even more than a week to mobilize and by then it will be too late. WW3 won't ever be a thing in my opinion, too harmful of a thing and not worth it for any country that has a brain.

The US has agreed to ONLY defend Taiwan in the case of an invasion, NOT take back "former" land. If Taiwan dares to take back even an inch of land from the PRC, I would say that the PRC would show no mercy.

  35. It's not a matter of whether the world recognizes Taiwan as being a part of China, its more of a matter of whether Taiwan recognizes itself as China. Nuclear weapons won't probably ever be used, unless it's as a last resort or something which I sincerely hope we will never have to come to that point. America only wants to defend Taiwan because Taiwan is a key location, it's basically an unsinkable Aircraft Carrier and what's more, its right next to their biggest economic and military rival, China.
