  3. Look out for "I was only 19"! Song by Redgum - Australians were called up to fight in Vietnam if they were turning 20 soon, randomly! This was extremely unpopular in Australia, so this reaction shows the end of that conscription! The Vietnam experience affected the mental and physical health of all participants and their families - for generations! 😡

  5. My Uncle was a fully trained RAAF pilot, from Tasmania, he performed successful bombing missions all up and down Australia's East Coast. He was honoured for destroying Japanese submarines just off Sydney and Coffs Harbour, but very few people even know they came this close!! He flew many, many bombing missions safely out of Darwin and Townsville and was promoted to Wing Commander, but his life ended as Flying Officer of a large US transport plane carrying app 14 troops/officers to a small island in the Indo-Pacific! This plane has never been located, they were assumed drowned! US Military files are not readily opened, and with all the "USA Victory" movies, I guess nobody's really interested!
