The South African army was under sanctions and the bren was carried on patrol. Even the browning was carried on patrol in bush The proof of the pudding was when the bren spoke in a contact with the terrorist they just turned around and ran away. Plus when I was younger I thought its cycle was pretty slow and would have felt absolutely naked on patrol with it
