There has to be consequences for being friends with Putin. And let's not forget this is going on for decades. As a positive side-effect this might remove Orban from office sooner if the economic struggles keep ongoing. This is overdue as well.

Both. Strong and united to the outside - diverse to the inside. Peace through economic interconnectivity. To make war and conflict as expensive as possible for members. And it worked pretty well. The EU had no war in twice the time two world war happened before.

Well it's a Veto this is a little different. But I agree the Veto power needs adjusting to respect the majority vote or better A majority vote because votes also have to be unanimous in the EU why so many things move so slowly.

@magicalThinktank Economics is tightly connected to politics at least in a true confederation like the EU who shares somes legislation to ensure fair competition and trade.

Noone is forced to join the EU it is voluntary and the EU put a lot of hurdles in the way. All EU members seen a massive improvement in economy, bussiness and investment. This is the main-reason why so many want to join because it simply works better. And this is what Putin is so afraid of that people find the greener pastures over there better and move away from him and his plan to take over the world.

The idea was to prevent them falling back to Russia. And it worked for most of them pretty well. The problem is the EU needs some reforms to adjust to that.
