Yes I also noticed this statement. When this means Europe doesn't have over 1300 billionaires like the US I agree. I would not call them "wealthy consumer base". In fact as it turns out billionaires seem to be a danger to larger society, safety and stability.

Trump just proves that this is not a clever idea. And even the anti-EU parties in Europe dropped this idea after seeing the UK and how hard leaving the EU hits you economically.

This video literally is about changing the status quo.

Ukraine decided not to surrender. And without the help of Europe and the US Ukraine would have lost a while ago. But who am I telling that. Your effing account is not even 30 days old. Tell Putin you need a raise.
2
In what aspects? This is a complex issue and I don't trust simple answers to complex problems. And this smells like a very british english opinion.

America is not Trump. And Trump will make himself very quick very unpopular. He is already starting to break key promisses and is not even in office yet. Subsequentially Trump will create a recession and I hope not but it's possible a financial crash in the wake of the attempt to pass unfunded tax cuts. The Liz-Truss moment of America. Suspend relations until America sorts itself out. It is actually the same what the EU is doing regarding Britain since Brexit. America has now their Brexit and Trump is like Boris Johnson. It takes some years until reality hits people and they begin to change their mind.
2
So how is America doing with it's immigration. I heared 2 mio every year now? Fix your own stuff before you point to others.

America is in the process of dying like ancient rome. Strangled by income inequality and extreme corruption. Trump will only accelerate this. Europe is young not even 100 years old it had 2 world wars which destroyed a lot and was rebuild twice. America however has hardly changed since the civil war and had not the cultural and political resets world wars bring.

Thank god noone needs that. United to the outside, diverse to the inside. And America is not as unified as I thought. I follow it political very closely. There are tons of cracks and almost all states try to distance themselves from the federal government and doing their own stuff. They have different tax-laws, different election laws, different civil laws. In fact in a lot of ways America is much more like the EU. Different states in a confederation.

The reason why the US supports Ukraine is because the US made a deal with Ukraine. They dismantle their nuclear arsenal in exchange for protection by America. And they did. A bad idea in retrospect. Russia had never invaded with them still having nuclear weapons. And the US is not subsidizing the EU. No NATO member pays for another. America already closed 90% of all bases from cold war times. The remaining are strategic bases like Rammstein act as air base to the middle east and Russia and hospital for soldiers. Close them if you want to noone here cares. States in the middle-east china and russia would love it.
1
America is not paying for Europes defenses. You still not understood how NATO works. Every nation has to spend 2% of THEIR GDP into THEIR OWN military. America spends 3.4% just for reference. But no nation pays for another and no money is transfered between NATO or to the US. Please inform yourself better upfront you look ridiculous having these opinions without knowing all the facts.
1
@hillehai Even the worst payer pays 1.92% instead of 2%. The numbers are closer than you think. And America is free to reduce the 3.4% to 2%. Do it! I'm all for it. Close the handful of remaining bases in Europe. Germany had over 50 before 1989 now it's 2. Close them as well if you want to. But don't complain when US soldiers not make it back to America on the way from the middle east home because Rammstein is no longer there.

Warning: Bot account only a month old.

@MaxScott-j3q I'm sure.

Which is why new chip-foundries were build in the last years or in construction already. TSMC has a big 11 bn $ project in Germany.
1
@unamedjoe830 America is equally dependend and got a similar foundry build in Arizona at the same time. So careful who you pointing at.
1
Good luck convincing your corrupt Congress to spend less. They want to spend it because it makes them richer. Technically the US could almost half the military (currently 3.4% of GDP) to 2% of GDP if they wanted to. But they don't they instead want more almost reaching a million million dollar (860,000 x 1,000,000$ right now).

Trump is the one seeking to be a dictator. He said so himself. If the "left" [ridiculous to think the neoliberals are left center-right is more like it] is really a dictatorship why did they transitioned to Trump. Why did they not challenge the election outcome like Trump. Why did they not cheat in this election like you said they did last time? Now it would have been even more important.
1
Glady. Can America please stop meddling in the middle east. They screw up and Europe gets the fallout.
1
Europes trades 10 times more with itself than America.

Looking through the comments I have to say the ignorance and arrogance from Americans on this topic is outstanding. And I thought British exceptionalism is bad.

There is nothing conservative about the GOP anymore. All true conservatives were pushed out of the party. They betraying their own principles of small government, freedom and self-determination. I can't recognise it anymore.

You know what is a little remarkable. In earlier times the political moderates would be for more relations and the right for more independence. But since Elon Musk and Trump it's the other way around. The right/nationals betraying their own principles for Trump.
