  1. Europe needs Natural Gas not primarily for making power (except UK) but for extracting hydrogen for chemical processes and to use it for heating in homes and industry. You cannot simply replace this with more electrictity. Besides Europe tries to get away from using fossil fuels which is probably a good idea looking at how problematic international dependency can become and of course with climate change in mind. The EU has another idea in mind. They moving forward the EU Energy Union, upgrading the EU-wide energy grid and expand emission free energy production and battery storage. Idea: Even if wind and solar is not always available there is always some part in Europe with wind or solar you just have to connect both ends.
