  1. The issue with this is, it's irreversible if it goes wrong and it's not really solving the problem only the symptoms. Why not find vaccines for the illnesses instead or provide better housing and living conditions. I'm not against innovation, but genetic manipulation has the potential for horrible consequences which cannot be reverted anymore. And let's not forget the experiences and know-how collected with this can also be used to find ways to eradicate humans alltogether or make existing illnesses even more dangerous. There is no technology which cannot be perverted into the oppossit. And with so extreme risks caution is more important than innovation.
