  3. What both parties in Congress and Biden has done is protecting 110 mio American TikTok users from the influence by an adversary of America. Who used this app to spy on western journalists, collecting and sending data without approval from their phones, adjusted the algorithms to push Pro-China, Anti-American content and spreading misinformations.

  5. Hell no. The Chinese government prevented ByteDance to sell the company and is protesting for months against this bi-partisan bill. The question here is: If the chinese government has supposedly no influence on TikTok why do they so vehemently protest and try to prevent the selling?

  6. This is the Chinese Government with a last-minute attempt to prevent the selling of the company. Giving Trump a fake victory and praise and look like a hero while the official ban it not active until sunday evening. They even simulated a shutdown. All that in the hopes Trump will intervene and let the Chinese government keep control over the app.

  7. The spying is bad already. But the manipulated algorithm to push certain content is more worrying. There are peer-reviewed papers out there who checked the bias of the app. And the results are scary. Pushing: Pro-China, Anti-America, Anti-Democracy Suppressing: Anti-China, Pro-America, Pro-Democracy content. Plus this damned app needs control over your phone. You basically asking to be spied on.

Explain to me why the chinese government is outraged about the order to sell and actively trying to prevent the selling of the company for months and complain on the international stage when the chinese government is not involved in TikTok? A plattform I might add which is banned in China itself.

  9. How can Trump even overrule Congress? There is a bill for that and only congress can repeal or ammend it? I think Trump is overstepping his authority here and he isn't even president until tomorrow.

  12. Okay you prevented the ban. But the ban only came because the chinese government prevented ByteDance to sell the company. They sooner close it than lose it to a western owner. And the problem remains. The CCP has members sitting on the board of directors on ByteDance and can force ByteDance to do whatever they want to.

  13. You don't really need TikTok. There are alternatives like Youtube Shorts which work just like it but have no Chinese Government baggage.
