Trump cannot continue to play with the tariffs like a little kid with a lightswitch. Everytime he uses it the stock exchange loses points and it doesn't return to the old level after a reversal.

I could understand America trying to pull back a little more to deal with American problems (America 1st). But unfortunatly this is not the case the potentially freed up money is only redirected to tax-cuts for the superich and to prop up stuff the billionaires get rich on. The normal American gains nothing from that and even lose money as more and more federal programs are stopped.
36
Please be aware that the "help" America provided was giving Ukraine old military equipment so the Pentagon could buy new stuff for America. The Pentagon had done that anyway but they would have just destroyed this stuff.
30
What people forget is these federal workers got reliable decent income which was coming externally from Washington into local communities. Federal workers spend this money in local shops, venues, supermarkets, etc. This is gone now. So even bussinesses who were not related to the government are indirectly affected by the federal cuts. And to make matters worse these workers now look for jobs themselves reducing the already limited numbers of decent jobs.

Just 20 years ago Trump would be called a traitor. Supporting and abetting an adversary of America.
7
Question: Why is Trump negotiating on behalf of Putin?
6
1) Guess how angry Republican voters feel being called "paid troublemakers". It doubles their anger. 2) Who would pay them? And I think it's easy to check just ask people randomly. 3) Even if true: What does it matter? These representatives represent everybody even those who not voted them and townhalls are for everyone in the constituancy. 4) It does not explain why they leave prematurely.
6
@newenglandgreenman Or in other words they profit twice from the fall by shortselling and the increase by the reversal announcements.
5
The GOP clapped at Trumps address like a bunch of mutated seals.
5
Europe should not waste time trying to fix things between Zelenskyy and Trump, yesterday showed that very clearly. The first step tomorrow is to accept that noone can count on America as long as Trump is in office. And even if Trump would agree to that he cannot be trusted not when he breaks even Americas own laws. All plans and strategies tomorrow should be done with that in mind.
4
As mentioned above during martial law there are no elections in Ukraine. Absolutely normal. And they asked the official oppossition in Ukraine even they say they don't want elections right now.
3
Europe combined payed for 60% of Ukrainian support.
3
Invitations can be revoked.

I was shocked to hear Russian misinformation from JD Vance and Trump in the Whitehouse. Russia is actually the country who is sending conscripts directly to the frontlines although there is a rule that should not be. Because Putin is out of troops. Even the North-Koreans have enough. Putin wants to somehow prevent Ukraine to enter further into Russia for a while longer until Trump can pressure a ceasfire out of Zelenski. Trump is activly helping Putin! Period.
2
It really was the best economy of the Top 7 countries. All others had even higher inflations, less growth, more unemployment. Frankly the world cannot understand how Americans could be so stupid to elect Trump. The real problem is times of high inflation can only be offset by higher wages in the long term so people can pay the higher prices again. But wages always grow much slower than prices. In America since the 70ties.
2
China and Russia are close allies. They tripled their trade with each other in the last year. They share intelligence, media, propaganda and they are best buddies with each other. And China and Russia are the C and R in BRICS whos goal is to end the American dominance on the planet and end the dollar as the leading currency. And Trump is intentionally or nor helping them with that goal.
2
Aiding and abetting the enemy in war times is treason. And stopping the delivery is active help for Putin to help him win.
2
Watch the video again in full and tell me who insulted who.
2
1) America signed a deal with Ukraine: Nuclear weapons for protection. And they did dismantle them. 2) Of course Ukraine is at war with Russia. When Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and in 2022 again that's war.
2
Don't be ridiculous 36,000 bn in debt. Ukraine got 118 bn in 3 years. The military budget is 860 bn per year. The total yearly budget is 6,700 bn. But this money was not given to Ukraine. Biden gave it the US industrial complex to buy new stuff for America and send the replaced equipment to Ukraine. It was a modernization for the most part something the Pentagon had done anyway.
2
@AmericanCitizen-j6k Or english is just not my native language. In any case your effing account is not even 5 months old you are the bot.
2
Misinformation. It was a grant.
2
NATO should take Starlink from Musk away without compensation.
2
America was obligated to provide the help. America signed a deal with Ukraine. In exchange for them destroying their nuclear arsenal the US would protect them. And they did. A bad idea in retrospect. Ukraine had the 3rd largest nuclear arsenal in those days. Putin had never invaded with them intact.
2
Brexiteers in Britain said the same. It never happened.
2
Who is checking for insider-trading at the stock exchange? Do they still have staff or did Doge fire everyone already? I wonder why.
2
"The Doge-Committee only exists to make MTG look important." ... great comment!
2
Wrong. Whoever stepped over the border first started it. And that was Russia ... twice.
2
Russian misinformation.
2
Follow the money. The only way to make money with this is insider trading and shortselling. Who is watching the stockmarket? Or did Elon Musk dissolved the SEC by now?
2
Just to state the problem: Putin is the enemy of Ukraine. Putin is the enemy of Europe he wants not only Ukraine but the Baltic states and Poland and even Finland and if he could all of Europe. He wants to remake the Sovjet Union. If America sides with Putin there can be no alliance with Europe anymore.
1
The real stuff never happens before cameras. What you saw yesterday was a show. Trump was even so stupid to admit it.
1
Perception is everything in politics. Unfortunatly perception is less and less reality.
1
Trump is waking people up again ^^ Trump makes people woke (being aware of social injustice and being against it).
1
Oh half of the Brits were very proud after voting for Brexit and everyone still believed the lies and had hope. Now 9 years later the conservatives had the worst election in their history because the conservatives brought Brexit and told all the lies.
1
Let's be honest the only reason why Trump wants it gone is because Bidens name is on a really good piece of legislation. He cannot stand this his ego cannot stand this. He is petty little b*tch who cares more about himself than America.
1
There is a law in place that noone over 115 years gets social security. So what Trump was reading there was just the list of dead people who received it at one time not active receipients. Besides everyone who had parents or grandparents receiving social security know from experience that once the death is declared social security ends payments without you even notifying them.
1
What people not know so much is the war is not running well for Putin. He lost refineries, industries, laboratories to Ukrainian attacks. The economy is out of steam and the currency is dropping fast in value the central bank has given up and frozen accounts to prevent bankruns. He increased the bonus payments for military enlisting and lowered conditions for conscriptions. And he is sending conscripts straight to the border although this is illegal in Russia. Putin is desperate he needs a pause (notice a pause not a peace because he wants to continue this one day).
1
You know this 100% conflict of interest here. It couldn't me more textbook than that. All these cases touched their bussiness or actions in the past. This has nothing to do with efficiency or fighting corruption this is just revenge and potentially do more corruption by trying again when these people are replaced by Maga supporters who turn a blind eye on their actions.
1
That's pityfull. You really believe that!? Trump and Musk making the swamp so deep right now you have no idea. It would even make the american eagle blush.
1
@81OH4Z4RD Unfortunatly I have seen that already in Britain in 2019/2020. When announcements about Brexit by the government coincided with intense changes at the stock exchange and in the value of the pound £. And I wonder if this idea was copied here.
1
Not anytime soon. The Brits are not quite ready for that and perhaps it isn't that bad to be outside while Trump is in office.
1
Such a line should not exist. What are the primaries for?
1
So was Trump.
1
Zelensky's main problem was the lack of security guarantees for any deal. Meaning he needs an insurance in case Putin breaks the deal. Putin already broken 3 deals with Ukraine Budapest-agreement, Minsk I and Minsk II. If someone broken 3 deals with you already you need an invasion insurance. NATO would be one but Trump is unwilling to support that because Putin don't want that. If Ukraine is in NATO an invasion would cause a war with all NATO members.
1
Trump was asked again today by a reporter if he realizes that tariffs are paid by the importer. But he still insisted that tariffs are payed by the exporter. If you have a leader who is making decissions on false assumptions how can you ever expect something good is coming from it? Trump tries to go back to the gilded age between 1890 and 1920 but this doesn't work the world is totally different today. To make matter worse Elon Musk has equally strange opinions how inflations happens. The same rubbish I constantly hear from ignorant people who still think "printing money" and spending is increasing inflation. One of the biggest right-wing lies of the last 80 years invented to discourage people from asking for spending by the government. And they making decissions based on these assumption. Of course everything goes badly wrong.
1
What would be the bluff? And what would he win?
1
There is a simple test to check if you have a problem: Can you avoid to look on your mobile phone for more than 48h?
1
In the absence of trust or knowledge people believe what they like and don't believe what they don't like. Unfortunatly reality (truth) tends to be something you don't like.
1
Not happening. Next tuesday Trump will introduce the tariffs to Mexico and Canada. This will make everything more expensive.
1
1st of all Congress is deciding where money goes not the executive. 2nd I applaud you wanting to make sure taxes end up where they should be. But you do that by doing proper audits by proper accountants who check every dollar. Not by a couple of 19-25 yo script kiddies.
1
Trump never told you for whom he want to make America great again did he? Well he kind of did recently by speaking about the "gilded age" between 1880 and 1920 when 4 people owned America. THIS is what he wants to re-create.
1
And yet Elon Musk gets already 8 mio $ every day in federal funding to his various bussinesses. Tendency rising.
1
What is a misinformation in your opinion?
1
This is caring for his ego not campaigning. He needs this like others needs to breath. Which is also why he is super-triggered when it doesn't go as he wants to.
1
@ The UK is a service based economy. Ending EU's Freedom of Movement was the worst possible idea. It was the lube for this income.
1
EU already has a deal done in 2019 before the invasion.
1
The disaster Trump is brewing is just getting bigger. America already spends 882 bn $ every year to just pay for the interest of the existing debt (more than the military budget) and yet Trump, Musk and GOP wants to make another 4.5 trillion $ in debt to fund Trumps tax-cuts for another 8 years.
1
People who lie about their opinions are the worst of the worst. Nothing they ever say can be trusted. If they cannot be integer even about their own opinions how can they be integer about anything else they say.
1
Among his voters. That's called denial. But don't worry soon this will be replaced by anger, then bargaining, then frustration.
1
Most of them don't count and some are really really small. But the more important ones have all dictators in power.
1
Frankly I saw so many red flags already. Cyber-Defense shut down. Foreign influence watchdogs fired and defunded. Musk looking into the Energy Department and even the Nuclear Safety Administration. Intelligence Services has a Pro-Putin head. Military Generals replaced or dismissed. Military Top Lawyers fired. Military Chief of staff fired. Little Hacker Kids with questionable security background placed in all top departments of government. If I didn't know better I would say someone is preparing an attack or invasion of America.
1
I can't stand these ignorant morons who not even know all the facts how NATO "funds" itself. Using rubbish statements like "pay fair share" when nothing is ever really paid between members.
1
And when someone threatens you in a post? Or someone is posting your address or private informations?
1
@ You are ridiculous you want to compare countries like Luxembourg with the size of Los Angles with America?
1
Putins real problem is he is not only about to lose the war in Ukraine he is also in danger to lose Russia. Getting a rescue by Donald Trump is his last chance.
1
Trumps strategy is getting buddies with Putin so Putin does what he wants. It's is so naive and stupid. Putin uses him for the right moment and turn on him when it's most benefitial and hurts America the most.
1
And I thought Trump is president. And Trump is the guy saying he is the law. And Trump is the guy saying the only power should be him not Congress not the Judiciary. And Trump is the guy ignoring court rulings. And Trump is the guy making images of him as King (Spoiler: Republic means "has no king"). And Trump is the guy firing all and everyone in government who could hold him accountable. And Trump is the guy threatening media when they have an opinion of their own. And Trump is the guy defining truth by decree. And Trump is the guy throwing out Reuters and AP and letting Russian State TV into the oval office. And all that in just 4 weeks.
1
They would have to admit Trump lied to them for a very very long time. And they cannot take that. They invested so much into Trump already they can't let go anymore.
1
What worries me a little more America is not just pulling back but realigning with adversaries like Russia and China. And I'm not even sure Trump is realizing this because apparently he did not even know what the R and the C in BRICS stand for.
1
Pretty solid evidence how these guys can hold grudges for a long time. Characteristic for narcissists.
1
We cannot even properly debate about this topic because both sides live in different realities about this. The misinformations have become so badly that confrontation is inevitable. It makes any sensible discourse impossible.
1
@RockinRedRover Republicans cannot even agree on saying Ukraine was invaded first anymore. How can you make any debate if not even that is clear upfront.
1
Elections are not before Nov 5 2026 and Nov 5 2028.
1
Looking for fraud and corruption is just an excuse for them to radically shrink the administration. I mean the US budget is 6,800 billion and even their own evidentally overexaggered numbers only reach 50 bn not even 0.59%. The mayham comes from the tariffs, from the sideffects of this government shrinking and the massive inefficiencies and chaos caused by this. Plus the suddenly unemployed workforce. Plus the lost money these workers earned and are now not spend locally anymore.
1
Until they get their bills and go shopping.
1
1) America has a treaty with Ukraine. They destroy their nuclear arsenal in exchange for protection. This is the basis of the help. 2) Ukraine was invaded. It is under martial law. Their constitution states there are no elections during martial law. And even the oppossition in Ukraine says they don't want it. It would help Putin. 3) Most of the help by America was old weaponry and equipment the pentagon was going to replace anyway And yes. When the US weapons complex get money to replenish US stocks people like Graham get richer.
1
It's military dressing. He is honoring his troops with this and showing everyone that his country is under war.
1
What Trump does here in even more insane than Brexit in Britain. But the Brits at least managed to get a Free Trade agreement with the EU before making trade with the largest trading partner harder. And now 5 years later everyone regrets it and the GDP lost 3%.
1
You really think Musk or Trump or the GOP allowing that even one dollar is going to someone who earns less than 400,000$ per year? Read the new budget of the GOP. This is how they think about that. Besides the money America payed was spend in America they used it to buy weapons and ammo from the weapons industry. And then send those or the old stock to Ukraine. They do that anyway and I can prove it. The budget for the military was just increased from 860 to 960 billion dollar.
1
Why is everyone in the Republican Party becoming so disingenious only to engraciate themselves to Trump? They don't serve Trump, they serve America. They don't protect Trump, they protect the constitution.
1
Better than Fox News anyway. Watching Fox is like volunteering to brainwashing.
1
Europe payed 60% of all support to Ukraine. And most of this were grants not loans. America is the biggest single-payer yes but when you add Europe together you find out quickly that Trump lied to deceive you.
1
Graham is a spineless windfane with zero integrity. He constantly changes opinion whoever he last meet and whatever is currently more advantageous for him. Nothing this guy says can ever be trusted because one hour later he might say the exact oppossit.
1
Everybody could see what is happening there. Trump and Vance joined up to humiliate and denigate this very successfull and admirable and capable leader. They envy him and their personality flaws forced them to hate him for that.
1
