If you want to understand Brexit I recommend to also listen to the things Danny Dorling, Professor of the University of Oxfort has to say about the change of Britain over the last 50 if not 100 years especially on the aspect of Income Inequality.

@haveaseatplease He appeared multiple times on Youtube recordings of invitations to institutions or lessons he given in the UK and across Europe. Suggestion: Search for "Danny Dorling" on Youtube. He rarly directly speaks about Brexit because Brexit is a result not a cause but this avoids him being dragged into the divisiveness and political nature of Brexit. And he is Author or Co-Author of a couple books about Britain's Society. I found out the more different angles I heared of him the clearer the picture becomes. I had a bad thirst of wanting to understand Brexit I listented to months of material, LBC Recordings, Youtube videos but only after listening to Danny Dorling the thirst subsided.

I'm watching American politics quite intensily over the last 12 months. The US is highly disunited. It resembles the EU more than it resembles for example Germany with it's states and also a Federal Republic. I was surprised how loosely coupled American law is between each states and the federal government and how all states do whatever they want because there is no federal law for most things setting it for everything. In that regard the EU is even further integrated than the United States. But the EU being a real state or even a closely integrated and aligned Federal state like Germany ... noone wants this and it's not really required either: Unity to the outside, diversity to the inside. that's the way to go.
