  5. Germans changed nothing the law is the same. But the UK leaving EU jurisdiction opened that loophole. Somebody probably not thought about this while doing the exit-deal ... or perhaps some did.

  8. The Schengen-treaty was not unilateral. It was a treaty and had to be signed by countries. And not all EU countries joined so it was not mandatory either. And the open-border policy was only between these countries not to the outside. The outside was never open as you should know when entering the EU for example at an airport.

  10. But Labour has won. Big time. And this will be the case for another 4 years. Britain had their Trump-moment in 2019 and regretted it ever since. Americas Brexit moment has just begun and will end equally bad for conservative politicians and voters alike.

  11. The Neoliberals love globalisation (and no neoliberals are not left). It was never a left policy to do unregulated trade and the EU has no unregulated trade thats why trade deals take years to negotiate.
