Don't discount this. Even if a misinformation when coming from Russia it is saying something on it's down.

That it failed.

Joining NATO does not give the US any say over your country. And every NATO member is paying for their own army ... 2% of GDP to ensure NATO can defend when anyone of the members is attacked/invaded. NATO is like an insurance against invasions.

Putin has more than enough reason to worry: 1) He is at war with Ukraine busy trying to invade the country. Putin's demise will end it. 2) He is hated by young Russian's and families who lost loved ones for doing a pointless war. 3) His oligarchs fear him for suddenly falling out of windows. Putin's demise would end this. 4) The Russian army hates him for being used as cannonfodder. 5) The west would not mind seeing him dead to end the war (except the industrial military complex who make a killing - pardon the pun) 6) Believe it or not but Russia has an oppossition living in prisons and exil. Putin's demise would open a way for them to take over and lead the country to some kind of normality and potentially into a much brighter future. 7) Wagner Group is sick of the Ukrainia war, they loosing a lot of personelle there and want it end sooner rather than later their loses threaten the company. 8) Putin made a lot of enemies out of former partners and people who worked for him. 9) I believe there is a rather substancial bounty on his head. I believe there is hardly anyone more a target on this planet than Putin.

Are you so naive to assume Ukraine would suddenly stop defending the country after so much has happened? And it would also elevate Zelensky into a martyr. Martyr cannot be renaged. Even in death he would make a rally-point. How do you fight a symbol?
