Yes please. The money should stay in the EU.

@wackey2k10 Ironically neighter Russia nor China or even America wants Europe to have it's own army. It would be the most high-tech military on this planet challenging them all making everything even more strategically difficult in case Europe suddenly has it's own plans.

Germany fixed that in the meantime. And even before that Germany spend more per year than the UK in absolute pay. You can hardly call that "not paying the bills". And Germany has really a problem with that. Because Germany is forbidden to have offensive weaponry like subs and nuclear weapons since WW2 all is spend on defense.

@NineDiamont 1 of 27 members who blocked the funding until last week is not something I would call "disagreement". In any case it's passed now. So why do you complain? And you would be surprised about the High-Tech from Europe. America cannot even ensure the airplanes stay in the air (Boeing).

@Rob-lm5yk The US is not funding other members. The rule is to spend at least 2% into your own military not somebody elses. So no. The US is not funding others only themselves. This is basic knowledge about NATO.

@swedemartyrsonswade Europe is a military high-tech powerhouse. You get the newest of the new and most innovative tech. They might not use it for their own military always but they have the manpower and infrastructure to make it.

You realize that even the worst spender is only spending 1.8% instead of 2.0% are you? It's not that they spend nothing at all.
3
You would be surprised. There is a reason why even the US is ordering so much from Europe.

Ukraine is not a NATO member. What is forcing the US to help Ukraine is a treaty. Ukraine dismantles their nuclear weaponry in exchange for protection and help by the US. And they did. Perhaps a mistake in retrospect Putin had never invaded a nuclear power.

He isn't. The 2% go into a members own military not sombody elses. Noone is paying for anyone else.

Trump loves the undereducated it makes it so much easier to lie - As Trump always says it he implies to his audience NATO members have to pay America somehow and would not pay enought. Which is a lie. Most not know or bother to check this spending commitment is into the countries own military and America does not sees a cent of it. The idea is simple: Trump wants to create the impression other countries would cheat on America and to hide the fact that America spend 860,000 x 1,000,000$ every year on the military.

@louistournas120 It's actually part of the constitution so yes there are legal limits. And having your own or allowing others to place some are two entirely different things especially if the latter makes you a target when America goes to war with someone.

China and Russia are just waiting for cracks in NATO. Let's assume the worst scenario and Americans leaving NATO after Trump got a 2nd presidency. China would immediatly accelerate plans to start a war in the pacific and Russia in Europe. However it would also mean the EU will push forward their plans for it's own united military. Trump would make Europe less of an ally or perhaps even an enemy and lost control and influence by Europe having their own army then and Trump would stand alone with a fight against China. Trump is dangerously incompetent and thinks he can deal with people like Putin or Xi with appeasement.

You have not understood how NATO funding works. Noone is paying America. Every NATO member has to put 2% of GDP into it's own military that's it. So American money is not flowing into Europe and vice versae. But I guess you knew that already but tried to spread some misinformations.

@ivan1usa Probably a wise idea.

The US is not funding European military. NATO says you have to spend 2% into your own military. No NATO members gets money from another.
