No reason to do nothing. Do you know why the destruction of the ozone layer was prevented in the 90ties? Because most countries decided to stop using the destructive chemicals ... but China still does to this day but nature can offset that. However if all countries had not done anything we would have another problem today.

There are multiple reasons for that: 1) Germany has a lot of solar and wind energy which is now cheaper per MW than nuclear energy thanks to price drop to green technology 2) Nuclear power plants cannot be quickly started or stopped it loses tons of efficiency when not run constantly meaning using it to offset shortages from regenerative energy is not really an option. At peak times the wind energy alone can power Germany's primary energy needs 2,5 times. 3) Cooling water. The main problem for nuclear power is the need for cooling water. And water is often not that much available with the more frequent drouts. Without cooling nuclear power becomes dangerous. In France a lot of nuclear power plants are down for lack of cooling water. And also the cooling water raises the temperature of water bodies not good for the biology in them.

@colinhunt4057 Observations shown that the worst possible condition is not your suggestion but low-wind nights and they found out even in that condition wind still can deliver 20% coverage. However these special nights happen only rarly and there are solutions to cover these periods. This is why Germany also diversifying green technology to bioenergy from organic waste and agriculture because it can help cover these conditions. What can also help in these circumstances are hydro water solutions. In some cases they are even explicitly used for energy storage purposes for nights. In addition to that Germany invests into research and prototyping for other energy storage to have more risiliance. Another measure of Germany and the EU is to expand the connectivity of the power grid across the EU so regional weather differences can be offset better. The economic side of this is also improved the integrated EU energy market to make it attrative to participate. And the EU is pushing projects to create power connections to north africa to enable energy imports. Having all this in mind simply made nuclear power less attractive and less effective and as I said in the other post ... economical unwise because it is already more expensive than green energy.

Looks like the evidence is against you. The events in the Netherlands and Texas (heatwave) are saying something else. And these stories appear weekly now. The week before was too much rain from the monsun in Pakistan. Something is definitly off.
