It was until Putin invaded and stolen Crimea.

This is to prevent the cowards running away. And remind everyone of the duty to their country in times like these.

Sure. But not a right to invade. And as far as I know noone invaded Russia or ever considered invading Russia worlds 2nd largest army and nuclear power.
2
Well most countries did especially in the EU. Only Putin still lives in the 20th century. Longing for a time in history which ended 33 years ago.
2
I'm pretty sure even if America, France and UK would use all nukes Putin would still survive this in a bunker somewhere ... or on some tropical island on the other side of the planet watching Russian soldier and Ukrainians die for his dream of an era long passed. The world has moved on but Putin refuses to leave the 20th century.
2
It was peaceful until Putin invaded and stolen Crimea from Ukraine. And now he invaded again to steal the rest of Ukraine. Ukraine was free, independant, sovereign and prospering ... and Putin turned it into a battlefield and now a graveyard.
2
Tell Putin to give you more english lessons please.
2
To not run into the arms of the invader creating all this destruction and death in the first place.
1
They are in trouble because Putin invaded their home which was save, free, independant and peaceful before Putin turned it into battlefield.
1
And all the other nuclear power like America, France, Britain have enough to eradicate every inch of Russia in retaliation 10 times. Don't fool yourself but the second Russia throws one the world is doomed.
1
Because Russia occupied East-Germany for 40 years. And those weapons came from the dissolved East-German Army called NVA.
1
You not run to an invading enemy for shelter.
1
@NottinghamForest24 You mean they fear him and just pretend they like him because the Truth would bring them into trouble?
1
Tell Putin that he broke the peace.
1
And to have a justification to kill more civilians later ("Well I offered them to escape" [fineprint: Into my gulaks])
1
#1 You not surrender your civilians to the enemy. #2 All the time everyone in Ukraine was free to choose where to escape to. Some even escaped to Russia, but the big majority decided not to. So why is Putin suddenly not willing to give people a Free Choice?
1
Putin invaded and stolen Crimea from Ukraine. Putin invaded and stolen Donbas from Ukraine. Putin intends to invade and steal everything else in Ukraine. Ukraine was independant, free, sovereign, democratic and prospering before Putin turned it into a battlefield.
1
Putin. Not Russia. The Russian Government is the problem, not the people.
1
They would probably (or hopefully) not been killed there, but they might be used as hostage and to blackmail Ukraine resistence to surrender.
1
That he is the last Cold Warrior belonging to an era of the last century.
1
Not agents although some Russians surely did especially the Oligarchs managing, laundring, hiding and staching Putins wealth. Oligarchs just bought people in the West money for "favors". And all those people now live in fear Putin might leak their favors to the public potentially ruining their lives and reputation forever.
1
The Russian People are not the problem. The governments they allowed to lead them are. One corrupt and greedy government after another. Russians should really have a long talk with European Democracies about making a true, free, equal, fair and long lasting Democracy. Something which benefits all Russians not just a few. I would even recommend Russians to have a look at Norway in how to make sure the resources of a country benefit everyone.
1
The world is very relieved those soldiers survived this attack. The world is respecting those soldier for not surrendering in view of overwhelming force and having the bravery to actually respond like they had. ... But this was just 1 in 10,000 events now happening.
1
The solution seems obvious simple. Remove this last Cold Warrior for good. People who not change with the time are left behind. And using military conquest to expand belongs to the 20th century and should stay there.
1
@chirukun Just because you don't wanted to fight means you are bad at fighting. Who knows maybe some of the cowards discover they don't need to be afraid.

Ukraine was in peace and prospering until Putin changed that. And a prospering independant free democratic nation right on his doorstep was a greater threat to him than everything else because it shows Russian people that the grass is greener over there. The real fear of Putin is losing his place in Russia and being overturned. All powerful and wealthy men in history had only one fear at some point: Losing all this. And a rebelling population in Russia is his greatest threat to lose his power, his wealth and maybe even his life. Check russian history, Czars always had a bad ending. And Putin is in all but name a Czar.
