  1. I not really understand the contra side here. Most of the rainwater will not end up in the basin just the water falling over it. Regarding the groundwater: Would a basin not allow more water to seep into the ground over time? I think artifical lakes are a brilliant idea more people should do it. Since rainfalls are less frequent but often way too intense we need ways to collect it and hold it back.

  2. If that is true than this reporting is missing a significant information which totally changes the picture. Do you have a source describing this in detail?

  3.  @burprobrox9134  Interesting. Thanks for this information. Still the basin is only a tiny fraction of the whole area. So I doubt leaving it out will have significant changes to the ground water. A factory would have the same sealing effect to the ground.
