I don't think Musk is the puppeteer here either. Musk is flawed as well and not as bright as he likes to think. He is more interested in sending more federal money to his companies and getting rid of investigations of waste, fraud and abuse into his own contracts. There are others in the background doing that. I think of Steven Miller for example. Another indicator for me is: Musk and Trump are both trapped in the right-wing media bubble along with the rest of Maga. Someone who is pulling the strings uses the bubble but is not in it.
