  1. Reading through the comments today and yesterday for hours. They come in faster than I could read and it's intresting how different and wide-spread the comments go. And again "Kurzgesagt" managed it that the extremes are both against this video. Extremly religious people without open mindedness completly reject it and want it turned down and the extreme scientist don't want to see this as it can't be proven or can't make anything out of it or even found it dangerous. In the middle there is just everything to find from very low level comments to enlightenment. The comment section on this one is really intresting on it's own.

  2. @duh Even Einstein had metaphysic moments. And who knows, maybe something beyond String Theory can actually prove or disprove something in that direction or maybe the telescopes we have available in the next decades show something we didn't expect. You know the drill: Any theory and idea can stay until proven wrong.

The universe can't be that badly designed." And in another episode Q was going to hint something about what comes "next" but decided against it and only said "You'll find out".

  4. They said up to 200h. It's just not the animation, they try to be very thorough with research and sources for their videos so it takes awhile. And they tend to make more science but this is Philosophy. Once is a while they do something else. This one is edgy because it almost makes religion and science go mad at them, but Philosophy is like that, it's the connection between both. It's just neither side wants to have anything to do with the other because they can't prove and/or can't belief in each other.

  12. I have read through probably 10k comments over the last 2 days. Normally I ignore comments completly but I made an exception here because I wanted to read about peoples reactions and where we stand in the overall progress. The majority seems to not see something between science and religion or want to make this a religion or think this is about the afterlife or deny it because it has no bases in fact and can't be proven. Schools should really add more Philosophy into the curriculum alongside the other subjects, unfortunatly it does not gain or lead to money or success or fame and it does not help with "surviving" in the modern time so normally it is just skipped and granted it can be boring :) but there is something to it and humanity is dealing with those issues since they have become conscious. People should just take it as another perspective on things and go on maybe they can make something of it now or later in their life or recognize something of it somewhere else just having heard about it is good enough.

  13. Well we give our knowledge and experience further by talking, painting, writing, teaching, making music, youtube video and so on. Others can incorporate what they learned or what ideas they had and seen in their life (History!) and do the same, improve on that or use this knowledge to avoid repeating past mistakes or improve things. So there is a possibility of giving information further and in the last 100 years we increased the speed a lot. Question now is: Can we avoid killing us in the process of learning (nuclear wars, climate change, etc) and can we avoid that we loose too much of the knowledge the past has left us so far e.g. by burning books or changing history or prevent others from learning by blocking the internet, by too much lying, forgetting or not leave information behind for the future.

  15. The video has a part which indicates something in this direction: "Time is a concept in your universe ... things are different where I come from". And because this "between-lives" happens outside the "egg" aka "universe" it might very well be the same "entity". Besides you wouldn't remember anything after this. It doesn't matter really anyway if or what happens "in between" lives this is not really the point of the video it goes much much deeper.

Philosophy and Metaphysics have the same right to have a video as Astrophysics and let's say Quantum Mechanics. Who knows maybe in the end they are connected somehow and your goal is to find the connection. I wouldn't be surprised if our consciousness is somewhere involved in this but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

  18. Thank you for this and making this way of viewing things aware to me. Up until now there were only fragments aware to me disconnected and unordered more a "gut-feeling" from experiences and knowledge collected in my life. It helps me to reshuffle some thoughts and ideas I have about "living" (aka "existing") I collected so far. Feels a little bit like finding a puzzle-piece which connects two other pieces and I have no idea what the picture is gonna be or how large the puzzle really is.

  20. No not immediatly. But if there is the slightest belief this may be true, and it may really be true we just can't prove it, it might lead some to change their disposition against other life. Maybe someone decide not to hurt someone or even worse, just in case it is true or help someone in need instead of ignoring him/her this would all be an improvement to before. And more is always possible. That fact that you outright recognized the Golden Rule in there is already a step up. Not everyone in the comments see's that or know's what it is or often just heared the well known sentence for that. But just sticking to the story "he/she/it is another me ... maybe I should treat him/her/it with a little more respect" would already encourage them to apply the Golden Rule without them knowing about it. And it goes from there because the Golden Rule is just the beginning. This story is really only a Nutshell (pun intendend) for a much more complex thing. Accessible, easy to understand and entertaining. If you read papers and books on the concepts you would probably just bore everyone they would never want to see this. With this story ... there is a start.

  23. At least treat them better and with more respect. No bullying, no violence and no killing. More is possible of course e.g. helping, friendship, loving, and so on but even a small step further would be an improvement and make living/existence for you and others better. EDIT: I would even place "no lying" somewhere in that list because it causes more and more problems because media and technology makes it more and more easier to lie and manipulate.

Ich bin auch manchmal irritiert über die Auto-Übersetzung in Titeln, da ich kein Problem habe das ganze in Englisch zu lesen und zu verstehen.

  25.  @epicheartbreakkshmr6645  Ich bin ziemlich sicher es hat mit meiner voreingestellten Untertitel-Sprache zu tun, sobald jemand Untertitel für ein Video eingibt erkennt YT das und zeigt das an, auch wenn ich Untertitel praktisch immer ausstelle. Mir ist das an den absurdesten Stellen schon passiert, z.B. einem Video über China in Englisch und absolut niemand vom Kanal da spricht Deutsch.

  26. I doubt it, it is just another book in the library. There is a reason the video took 2 years to make. There would not be so much preparation and time involved for just everything and they must have had a very difficult and controversy time deciding over it and how.

  29. Consider it another view on something science can't get a hold on ... yet. Maybe something beyond String Theory can, maybe we found something with the better telescopes in the next years on the edge of universe. It's entirely on you what you make of it or not. Even Einstein had metaphysical moments. And to be honest it feels a little more comforting than nihilism but with the side-effect that it might improve existence amongst "us" and put more respect on life in general.

  30. The key word is "consciousness". The idea of this is you or better the consciousness of you is here to experience, to learn, to enlarge and enrich itself with every reincarnation a little more to the point of being born (as a god). So if animals are conscious yes it would (it is?) extended to animals. It would even include aliens (remember "it" said "the hole universe is for you") and even artifical life if they had a consciousness of it's own because all consciousness is combined to this god-thing in the video. And regarding simple life-forms: There is an argument I had with another commenter that you could say: Everything which is able to become conscious at some point in it's evolution is included in this model as well. And since simple life can evolve into complex life and maybe even with consciousness as we did every life should be respected and possible protected if possible. However you can go overboard with this rather quickly, e.g. all bacteria should be protected. So I would simplify it to: Try to respect life in any form.

  32. Not in the short term no. But just making this story known to more people is a step in the right direction. This story is really only a Nutshell for a deeper and much more complex concept behind it and humanity struggles with this since it had become conscious. Maybe some of the viewers will discover something along their lives and say: "Hold on, this reminds me off a video I have seen." or "Hold on, this matches something I heared about a very long time ago.". And I'm a little reluctant to make my personal insights to this public and I'm neither a very religious or spritiual being denying it because it does not fit some religion or belief nor a radical scientific one denying everything which can't be proven more something in the middle taking ideas from both sides. Somehow I think everyone must find this out on their own there are no shortcuts here without creating issues but having this video available might help people and giving them a place to start.

That's why we talk with others, have kinds and bring them up, go to school, read books, view youtube videos, give speeches and being teachers, write books, make youtube videos, give TED talks and so on. It's the only way of giving information further maybe someone can pick it up and go on from there.

  35. You seem not to have seen the video about "Optimistic Nihilism", it made a lot of people uneasy. And Kurzgesagt is known for their "weekly dose of existencial crisis". Maybe ... just maybe ... your brain is telling you with this feeling: Hey there is something to this.

  36. Let them see this ... maybe they think about it for a while and their conscience kicks in. I thought about this for a while. It's also possible they need to be like that, so that others can see how bad it can come and work actively against this or find a way to prevent it. Same with dictators and so one. Future "you" read or hear about the past and ensure it never happens again or at least less often and therefore improve existence at least for everyone after this. It's a kind of learning process and why we should never forget about the past.

  37. 1) This world view rests upon the idea that body and conciousness (or soul if you prefer) is disconnected from your body. So it doesn't matter and you will not remember anything anyway from former or future "you" and any other "you" is a new body and a new fragment of your total consciousness. ... Yeah I know sounds strange. 2) I thought a little bit about it. I see it as a painfull lesson/bad example about how important the respect for human dignity and the respect for life and about equality. Germans learned something from it, that's why they made a new constitution after Hitler with §1 being "Human dignity shall be inviolable. To respect and protect it shall be the duty of all state authority." making "Dignity" the first and most important principal. All other rights in Germany derive from this. That's why there is no death penalty anymore or why prisoners are treated totally different and why there are less homeless and more social rights in Germany. And that's one reason why Mrs. Merkel allowed 1.5 mio refugees from Syria into the country when they needed a new home and their dignity was at peril. So you could say the bad example for Hitler teached the witnesses and children of the Hitler-Era an important lesson about "a better life" and about "what is important for humans". And in context of this video one step closer to finalize the growth process.
