  1. The problem is how to fix it? My personal suggestion would be to fundamentally balance Freedom of Speech by a new human right "A right to Truth". Everyone will want it ... except the liars. It would create a balance to Freedom of Speech to not let it mutate into Freedom to Lie. And only humans rights can limit other humans rights. It would also create a legal basis to go after liars legally which goes above mere defamation. It will not end the lying but it will make the liars liable for it. Any disputes will as always go to a judge were you need to prove the lie.
