  1. Atheism literally means not believing in a god ("theism" - believe in god(s) the "a" negates it). The absence of religion. It cannot be taught because there is nothing to teach. It cannot be preached because there is nothing to preach. It cannot be believed because there is no belief. It is a personal decission and most do it because they have been disappointed by religion or grown up without religion and not decided to join a belief.

  2. You can be religious and go to school. You get to learn all kinds of things just not your religion or any other religon. You can still learn that at home, a special religious school or church/moschee/etc just leave it out of normal schools or we start to discriminate one religion over another ... unless you want all religion taught but I think some would be not happy if evangelical kids get catholic lessons or islamic lessons or hindi lessons or taoism lessons or buddhism lessons or whatever lessons.

Why Do some people want religion taught in schools? 1) Because they don't know it any other way / grown up with it and were always like that. 2) Because they think "good behaviour" can only be done by people with belief (which belief?) 3) Because they think everyone should believe what they believe. 4) Because they know people who believe in something may believe in other things. 5) Because they know people who believe in something can be easier manipulated or even controled. 1 I can understand. However 2 is obsolete we have something working far better called "The Rule of Law". 3 is out of the question and arrogant. 4 and 5 scare me.
