You know what CNN's diagram really says: "Crime were higher under Trump." EDIT: And this was even before Covid and people become more violent by more guns and being locked down. So it's even twice as remarkable how CNN manipulated the view.

It made lying on media easier.

I think we need even more and a legal foundation for this. One of the best ways in my opinion would be the introducing a new human right: A Right for Truth. Giving all humans a right to hear the truth and in reverse making all who lie responsible for them. It would also solve a serious legal problem: A human right can only be limited by another human right or you get into big trouble regarding protections of humans rights. So how can you limit Freedom of Speech without allowing wide-spreading censorship into it? Answer: Another human right. Of course you need to prove that in court and so on but this would set a clear sign: You have the Freedom of Speech ... but only as far as your speech is not hurting the Right for Truth of others.

I'm sure you are right ... but this is not really the core issue here. The problem is how and where did this person get this misinformation. And with that we talk about media responsibility and the truth in general.

I catched immediatly that they started on the Y-Axis with 35% and not with 0% which makes the changes appear far bigger than they are in reality. But I did not catch the inverted X-Axis. This is insidious ... I never seen this before to give false impressions to voters so they believe the Republican candidates when they reach for the "crime wave" fearmongering.

Changing informations ... even just changing apparence ... is a form of lying ... because you distort the reality.

Please show more of these distortions and manipulations. People need to learn to detect them.

@meltdown6165 You are not wrong, but since you have to make your case in court and convince the judge and jury ... all is fine. It is actually what we want ... that the lies come to light. People who think they have been lied to have to prove their side and defenders can defend it. It becomes some legalized form of debate ... and all under oath. Just the "under oath" part makes intentional liars think twice about this.
