  1. It's quite easy actually: 1) Our weather is generated by water in the atmosphere and energy in form of heat. It's the engine for all. But we still have seasons and cold and warm areas on the planet as before. 2) The heat comes from the sun. Some is reflected into space some heat stays in our atmosphere (or we would freeze to death). Some gases can hold heat better than others. CO2 is effective, Methan (Natural Gas and from animals) 20 times more ... and Water (Clouds) even more. The more we pump in the atmosphere the more heat stays. This is called global warming. Now to the results of this which is the real issue ... 3) The heat has to go somewhere. It starts to heat the oceans and they already heated up by 1.1°. Can you imagine how much energy you need to heat up all water in all oceans. Try it out at home by cooking a can of water and imagine doing this to all water on the planet. Result 1: More heat in the oceans leads to more water in the atmosphere. But this in turn increases 2) more. And it also creates more rain. Result 2: More heat in the oceans leads to the water expanding (simple physics warmer fluids expand). Result: Ocean level rises. 4) Because ice gets warmer faster than dirt the artic/antartic starts melting. Result: Even more water in the oceans. Ocean levels rise even more. 5) Remember that heat is the engine for weather? Well not quite ... the difference in temperature is. Cold and warm always try to balance each other which you know when you open your window at home. The stronger the temperate difference the stronger this effect is ... we call it wind. This "engine" is creating the jet stream between the artic and the equator. It's a super-strong wind which is mixing up the atmosphere like a real mixer making the weather less extreme by mixing moist air with dry air and warm air with cold air. And it pushes air like a ventilator around. But because the artic is getting warmer faster than the equator this engine is now weaker and sometimes even stops. Result: The weather is not mixed as much anymore and changes slower or simpler the same weather tends to be there longer. Result: More extreme weather. More and dryer drouts (see Western America). Colder and larger colds (see Texas). Extreme rain to the point of floods (also because more water is in the atmosphere). And heat + moisture is creating hurriance which are larger, stronger and have more rain as Ian shown last week. This is all called: Climate Change ... because it is not all about heat.

  2. The irony is ... Solar Power and Wind is already cheaper per unit generated than fossil fuel power due to the price hikes on crude oil and natural gas. But of course you will not hear that on channels who have ads of Shell, Exxon and BP on them.
