  1. They can't answer the question "What if he is guilty" because it is not about Trump but about themselves. In order to say "okay when he is guilty" they have to admit to themselves he was criminal and that they fallen for, trusted, defended and supported a criminal for a decade. And that they have been conned and betrayed. And they are not quite ready for that therefore not answering and denial and they not even want to think about it.
