Let me translate what he actually says: He says you need guns, because everyone has guns. Would the best solution not be that noone had any guns? Well at least "good" for society, not so good for his donors and the weapons bussiness.

@DZ_Sparty You still don't understand do you. The idea is to take all away guns from everyone. Everyone caught having one immediatly goes to prison. If you know noone has gun anymore besides a handful people and the police, would you change your perspective? The rest of the world is living under this model for over half a century. It works and it makes everything safer. Even the police can disarm a little more because they are the only ones with weapons and don't need military grade anymore.

@DZ_Sparty Sure some will find weapons somewhere somehow. And some people will even get a permit for them. But not millions.

@DZ_Sparty Noone buys anything back. Your fault if you have one ... or more. Look I know it will be major undertaking which probably need a generation or two. I already pointed out that even with a ban of weapons some people will still get a licence for them. So why not start there and make the registration and licensing much more strikt and controlled. You can see how it goes and decide how to proceed from there but it may already increase the safety a little bit.

@DZ_Sparty Imagine there is almost no crime anymore. Maybe then? So the goal is to actually fighting the source of criminality in the first place. Poverty, joblessness, no housing, existential anxiety ... What do you think is the Biden-Administration doing. Lower all these problems, which leads to less criminality (and more economy) which leads to less violence. The only people not liking this are the gun makers and distributors and the private prison owners.

115.000 gun related deaths every year in America. The UK has similar problems with poverty, jobs, criminality, racism ... but only 1/5 of the number of deaths per million because guns are forbidden in the UK.

200 years have passed. And it was never needed once. And when the 2nd ammendment was made. "Red Shirts were still the enemy" and there was no police. Things changed in 200 years. Besides. Read the ammendment. There is nothing written of people having guns. It says Militias having guns to protect the democracy.

200 years ago Britain was an enemey with the risk of coming back. 200 years ago there was no police. 200 years ago there was no army as you know it today. This law is outdated. Almost the hole world besides some backwater dictatorships or 3rd countries have prohibited weapons and in all relevant statistics they are much safer. The weapons having the opposit effect they should have, they not make it safer, they make it more unsafe. And therefore weapons create the very problem they are there to solve.

@KentuckyBucky You mean like on January 06? .... Right Germany had Hitler. They have quite a lot of experience with fascism and tyranny. But they prohobited weapons and changed the constitution to make it Tyranny-proof. Result: In every aspect Germany is much much much much saver. And even saver of Tyranny. NO other western country have a gun-right. And they have all much less problems.

How do you know? Maybe a strikter control on purchase would not give him a weapon. Maybe a regulare checkup would took his weapon away again. And in any case. Assault Weapons should never be in the hands of civilians.

There wasn't even police when they wrote this. It's an outdated, oveused and misinterpreted ammendment which needs to be abolished. The hole world besides some backwater dictatorships have prohibited weapons for normal citizens. And all those countries are much safer than the US. The weapons have the opposit effect, they not making society safer, they make them unsafe.
