  1.  @gillianorley  Because the European Parliament voted a woman. And Michel is the President of the European Council a 2nd chamber of the EU consisting of all political leaders of the 27 members. However Ursula von der Leyen is multiple times more powerful. It's like giving Pelosi a chair but not President Biden.

  2. My first thought even before reading this comment. It would placated Erdogan twice. First by pointing out there are only two seats, than by a man having better manners than himself. And finally even by a woman sitting on the same height as himself. Too bad this opportunity was wasted.

  3.  @davidmurphy563  Michel is a representant of the 27 governments, but he has no power he is only a middle-man so that not 27 others needs to come. She on the other hand is making budget, policy, trade and foreign policy in the EU.

  8. What-about-ism and False Equivalence. SHE hold's the rank of Head of Goverment of the EU. HE is "only" the speaker for the EU Council a chamber of government heads a little bit like the Senate in the US. And this "guy" you mention is probably her secretary or even security.

  15. It was clearly a protocol breach caused by Erdogan to create tensions, denegrate and disrespect her (she made him actually the most problems) and all Erdogan needed to do was to put a 3rd chair in there. I have a feeling he will reget this before long.

We take everything with a grain of salt as it should be. And CNN also made mistakes and was here and there not completly impartial. 2) You know "Progressive" is actually something good. It means "forward" moving on. Preferably than staying in misery and greed. And I didn't say Republicans say stay away from CNN at least not in public. But the right-wing channels on the internet do. Rule #1 of Facism: Silence all who are able to tell the truth. And if I would be the liar and try to manipulate people in a certain opinion I would also say "don't listen to the other side". But intresting our standpoint is "listen if you must, but don't take everything for granted".

  26. The integration of 1,300,000 Syrian refugees into Germany in 2015 is progressing well. And the country didn't break apart or turned islam. Next time read a little bit about Demography before you make an opinion and don't whine about those 100,000 US get per year. Germany is 4 times smaller in Population than the US.
