  4. I disagree. Illiteracy is bad but not the problem. The problem is the lack of Truth in media. Even someone not able to read can make acceptable decissions when confronted with the Truth, the Truth and nothing but the Truth. Critical Thinking is needed when there are lies around to find and see them. You don't need to read to be able for Critical Thinking. But in the end I fully agree on you that not being able to read is terrible.

  5. You mean the legal bribery aka "donations" constantly happen in Washington? Well there are some politicians who swore to end this practise and not take money from corporations - all of them are Progressives. And Washington is giving them a hard time to prevent them coming into power to do this.

  6. Putin got more powerful in 2000. Maybe some of this has to be accounted to him. Some of this has to be accounted to the rise and change of Fox News and some of this goes back to greed coming from the stock market and making money with money.

  7.  @WmRussell1972  The problem is that the Republican moved so far to the right and away from the center that any cooperation has become impossible. Even the core of Republicans and Democrats the Corporate Democrats and Corporate Republicans who call themselves "moderates" but are in the end just Neo-Liberals with Corporate interest cannot prevent society from further drifting apart. The Status Quo is no longer an option. This is why people move away from the corporate center to the left in form of Progressives and even further to the Right in Form of Trumpists reaching a point when they try to end Democracy. If the center not start adopting Progressive policies soon to cool down the greed people will continue to suffer and America will self-destruct.
