  1. The technical term for the debate thing is "false equivalence". In simpler terms it is "balance gone wrong" and is used to introduce a wild theory to give it more plattform. If 999 scientists say yes and 1 says no there cannot be a balance at 50%. It helps a wild outliar to appear as equal and valid when it should be dropped.

  3. Good point on the metrics of economy. GDP is or even GDP per capita (head) is no longer a good indicator for a well economy for one reason. Income inequality. It distorts everything and somehow needs to be incorporated to have a true represenation for a good economy. Need an example: Sure. Imagine a country has a GDP of 1 mio and only 100 people. Last year it was a GDP of 950k so we have a 5% growth sounds fantastic. But one of them is making 990,000$ and the other 99 making 10,000$ together. GDP looks good, GDP per capita looks good (10k), growth look fantastic but the income inequality is extreme. This economy is only good for 1% ... like the US.
