Everyone loves policing as long as it is not turned on yourself. It's not my opinion but from someone else I recently picked up which provides an avenue to make people think about what they are supporting. If you want to convince people from something problematic reverse the roles. Give people an example when they would be policed and would experience the problems. And people quickly change their minds. In case of policing: Just for a moment exchange black people and white people. Imagine white were the suppressed and blacks would do the things some white currently do. Would you feel save with this kind of militarization? This is actually an aspect of racism and suppression and inequality nowadays. There is a ton of people out there who only support all of this because they fear if the black take over they will return the favor of the last 200 years. This is again a projection which happens so often on the right. A lot of people think police actions currently are some kind of preemptive strike to prevent them from ever coming into this position. People are feared into racism. And sadly it's not unjustified have a look at South-Africa. To counter this sometimes even intentional fearmaking it's very important that all BLM protests stay peaceful and that black people in power reassure that there will be no revenge or more white are "feared into racism." The problem will solve itself as trust is build up, but it will take time and good faith on both sides to end this prejudice.
