  1. They have even less ways to remove already elected people. The UK at least can make a petition and once 10% of the voters sign a by-election is happening. And the UK also not has to deal with two levels representation in House and Senate. One representative for one constituancy that's it.

  2. I think it's much more straightforward. Most of these politicians already send their kids to private schools and they hope it reduces costs for them personally. They don't care about other people or their kids. The same debate is happening in the UK right now regarding plans to remove the tax excemption status from private schools. They complain about a 15% VAT price increase (money going to public schools) while other familie cannot even afford dedicated beds for their kids.
