  1. Not even that just anything "different" and unknown/unusual. That's why woman, gay and transsex, as well as Non-Christians are also hated. Because they are different. And our genes tell us "what's different may be dangerous". It's up to your head to control this impulse. But if you are not opening up yourself to the outside, not talk to those people, not know anything more about them how can you get ever be used to them and see that they are not a danger to you ... or maybe you don't want to stop seeing them as danger as a target for your anger you have about yourself?

  2. It's the first excuse from racists they gave to avoid admitting or at least saying they are racists even if just a little. Ask a racist if he is a racist you will get to hear "no i'm not i'm just against immigration." And if you ask a little further at some point you hear something which nails it. The economical argument about immigrants is difficult to measure. Immigrants are often young, healthy and willing to work after escaping from whatever they escaped from, happy to have a safe spot and a chance to start a new life. They are often more productive than some natives. Why do you think companies especially in south are prospering so well with immigrant workers. Why are the fields especially in the south are full of immigrant workers? They do what natives don't want to do.
