@ernstschmidt4725 I'm not that sure. As a Mélenchon voter, I have to recognize that France has moved to the right and Mélenchon is quite a divisive politician. Ranked choice voting does favor centrist candidates.

Where do you live? Presidential elections are the most important in France so having more than a quarter of voters not showing up to the polls is a lot. I'm also quite mad at them, Mélenchon was 1 point away from Le Pen. The second round would have been way more interesting with a left wing candidate rather than having a remake of the 2017 election. On the other hand, the media kept saying that it was going to be Le Pen vs Macron for years so I understand why they didn't vote out of weariness.

Nope, it's just as bad. It's also a first-past-the-post system.

Hell no, no wants the PS or the LR (moderate left and right) to come back. They have fused into Macron's party LREM and it just shows that there's no difference between the two of them.

Mélenchon's voters are really split. One third will vote Macron, one third will vote Marine Le Pen and one third will abstain. I will personally abstain because I'm tired of all this BS.

For centrist brains, since he's not a neoliberal, he's far left.

Yes but France first and foremost needs to remove power from the president and give more to the parliament and prime minister/government. Also make legislative elections fully proportional.
3
Le Pen will 100% pass.

Her current campaign isn't focused on immigration and Islam though. The far-far-right candidate Zemmour talked about great replacement, Islamization and all the funky racist stuff that made Le Pen look moderate in comparison.

@marco21274 You're right. It's just as bad as first-past-the-post.
2
Also what happened in the UK?

No one has ever won the election with the absolute majority during the first round so it doesn't really matter that much.

@manapany_6392 She's like Orban, by giving huge benefits to the people, they are forever tied to the government's handouts.

Macron is an American puppet. Our country is a puppet show.
1
No, it just proves that anti-Macron sentiment is very strong.

Old farts vote Macron. Young people vote Mélenchon and middle aged people vote Marine Le Pen.
1
Except he can't really do that. His platform and current voters are right-wing. He can't please them and Mélenchon's voters at the same time.

@martingroffilier6474 Mélenchon still speaks about socio-economic policies first and foremost. It's the media and the opposition that have an unhealthy obsession with "woke" bullshit.
