@hermitcrabband1208 No. The people responsible are those who used explosives to destroy it: the Talibans. It costs no money to leave it untouched. And I'm not Buddhist but this is art created by other humans and as such it deserves to be preserved no matter if we believe in it or not. Greece and Italy don't erase their Ancient pagan temples just because they are Christians.

Marcus The Pakistani government literally helped found the Talibans and provided support for years. It's not a conspiracy theory. America gave millions of dollars to Pakistan so that they could support Afghan resistance groups to the Soviets and Pakistan chose to promote the Talibans and other Islamist terrorists. It's literally in the introduction of the Wikipedia article about Talibans.
