Same. I want to vote for a party which is pro-environment but that also supports nuclear power. A party which mitigates the cost of green policies with redistribution. I want a party which is realistic on immigration. A party that encourages potential migrants to stay in their home country by opposing wars, meddling and corruption from the West in poorer regions, especially in Africa and the Middle East. A party that will send illegal immigrants and criminals back. But also a party that guarantees foreign workers' rights so that they don't get exploited. A party which is harsh on crime AND harsh on police brutality. I want a party that has a comprehensive drug policy by legalizing cannabis and by punishing dealers not consumers (Portuguese model). A party that doesn't fuel culture wars, on either side in order to get elected. Is it too much to ask?

@alm9322 As a leftist, I have to say that it's rather European soc-dem parties that have shifted to the right economically and that they do not represent the center-left anymore, but the center/center-right. For me, eurofederalism is not really a leftist idea considering how Brussels aligns with private interests, lobbies and the US. Or its focus on austerity. Popular sovereignty is also a left-wing idea. There's no real democracy without sovereignty. That being said, I think we can both agree that the main historical right wing and left wing parties merged into this weird "centrist" neoliberal mess that destroys nations and social systems and tries to cover it by claiming to be "moderate". I have the worst example in my country: Macron.

@paul1979uk2000 I think they want to appear electable but once enough of them get into power across Europe, they'll likely form coalitions/alliances like Hungary and Poland and get more radical. But on the other hand, I feel like them softening their stances on the EU and the euro are ways to appeal to the business class or them being "globalist"/"neoliberal" plants.

No, I don't want my country to be turned into a puppet state. I don't want to relinquish our foreign policy and army to the Germans. I don't want to have to go to Brussels to protest if I think a European law is deeply unjust and against the interests of the people. I do not want to be diluted into some meaningless "European identity". So my question is: what's the big deal of a Union of European Nations instead of an overstretched federation?

@xwolf9913 No, it's not. Internationalism means solidarity between the working class of every countries in order to get rid of our parasitic rulers, both political and economic. It doesn't deny nations. Globalism is a neoliberal ideology which supports unchecked free trade and finance. Its goal is to destroy every sense of community and agency (nations, trade unions, political parties, welfare) and replace it with mindless consumerism and institutions like the IMF in order to enrich the oligarchy. As a left-winger, I can only oppose globalism. The right-wing parties will never be the solution because they won't ever address capitalism, the very root of globalization. Look at how Meloni (obviously) turned out to be a huge sell-out, shilling for the EU and the economic elite. That being said, the "left" has also been hijacked by a bunch of neolibs/shitlibs who shill for the US and are fans of culture wars. So yeah, no real change in sight.

What about the mindset of many immigrants? Those that veil their women, dislike homosexuals and want everything to cater to them? Where's the interest for the collective? The respect for social cohesion? Is it not individualistic to push your own foreign culture above the local one? What about those who trash and burn down their own neighborhoods like in France? Of course, our countries are not free from racism but we are way more tolerant and accept things that are clearly unacceptable. If being an immigrant in Europe is so horrible, the best thing should be to keep them from settling in our terrible racist society.

As a left-winger, I don't understand why the left hasn't adopted a tougher stance on immigration. Immigration from some countries doesn't work and only creates more tensions inside our societies. That being said, the Italian "left" (I assume you're talking about the PD) has also betrayed on economic issues, with its neoliberal, technocratic and pro-austerity agenda that I consider fundamentally right-wing.

Why would Sweden ever want to join NATO? It isn't threatened by Russia and it only makes them more dependent on America. What's funny is that wanting to leave NATO is considered extremist in France (and probably the rest of NATO members).

@dannyatthebeach Was it racist when colonized nations said they didn't want more Europeans to settle their lands? When they sent Europeans back to Europe after their independence? I don't think so. They had every right to defend their lands from invaders and colonists. Muslim immigrants and their descendents do not integrate and they have values that are opposite to ours. Just look at us in France, with our riots, this will be Europe's future if mass immigration continues like this. Immigrants also have a higher fertility rate than native Europeans meaning that they will potentially replace our local populations. I don't know if you've seen the US but a multiracial country doesn't work. At all. Every country has the right to choose who crosses their borders, who can settle and who has to leave. If Europeans don't want Muslim immigrants, it's our choice. If Muslim countries don't want to allow Europeans in, it's their choice.

I think it's a good thing that fertility rates are dropping. Earth is clearly overpopulated. The only problem is that our economic system isn't made to accommodate for a population decrease because it always needs more workers to create wealth for the rich. More growth, no matter if it ends up destroying our planet.
