@KearneyZzyzwicz-nu5op To be fair, Bukele uses many of the same constitutional powers/tactics of a proto-dictator. So far, he did it for the greater good but let's hope he doesn't go down the "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain" route.

@KearneyZzyzwicz-nu5op N*zis also played by the book in order to rise to power, using the constitution as they pleased, declaring a state of emergency, erasing all opposition. That's why the other person compared the two. It doesn't mean Bukele is a n*zi but giving all the power to one man doesn't necessarily ends well. I agree that the gang violence needed a strong reaction and I'm happy El Salvador is safer now. On the other hand, he's also putting innocent people behind bars since there's no scrutiny nor trials. He's also silencing the opposition/investigation journalists. So some of the criticism is definitely warranted. Unfortunately, I don't think the situation is sustainable, he can't keep 2% of the population behind bars forever...

@you12150 It has to do with neocolonialism and imperialism, the US has been meddling with every single Latin American country since day 1. Plus the cartels are fueled by American drug market. American junkies are the ones financing gangs.
