  1. ​ @Zivety  Drugs being illegal does nothing to stop people from using them or reducing harm. Proof: the case in the video and the last 50 years of the war on drugs. Prohibition. Does. Not. Work. It didn't work with alcohol, it didn't work with weed. It's honestly incredible that in 2023 people still support repression despite the fact that, let me say it again, IT CLEARLY DOESN'T WORK. This is what decriminalization looks like in real life. In Portugal, people caught with small amount of drugs on them for personal consumption aren't sent to prison but have their drugs seized and they have to attend a meeting/checkup with doctors. IIRC dealing is still illegal. And guess what? This method works. Portugal had a huge drug problem in the 1990s and enacted these policies back in 2001. Thank God they didn't follow the American model. But this means you have to invest in health care and social services, not just the prison industry. So yeah, it probably won't work in America since your system thrives on rot.
