No, there are statistics that show that Asian students have to outperform other racial groups in order to get in.

Wanting cookie points at the very end of your education (college admissions) sounds like everything before failed. Should ask for more funds for preschool, primary, middle and high schools instead of asking for a golden ticket to student debt.

Also, expecting the US state to give you handouts is literally why y'all won't get out of poverty. Can't count on that rotten nation for anything. Value education and discipline from day 1 and you'll get your kids into college, without needing a special treatment. Also, do you think Vietnamese immigrants should have a bonus considering what Americans (including Black Americans) did in Vietnam? Yet they are put into the Asian racial group, the one that needs the highest scores in order to get in.

Affirmative action based on race is literally a divide and conquer tactic. You talk about oligarchy but affirmative action doesn't do anything to address socioeconomic inequality. It only manages to add more token diversity into said oligarchy.

Also, I've looked up Bacon's Rebellion and it's funny you use it as an example of racial solidarity when in fact it was against Native Americans 💀

@deejay5102 TLDR.

Well the Asian Immigration Act of 1965 made discrimination based on race in order to obtain visas illegal, just like this Supreme Court ruling made it illegal to judge a college application based on race. Same thing.

@LordCommandor You're aware that affirmative action had a deadline anyway? It was supposed to end in 2028, even without last month's Supreme Court ruling. You know that affirmative action only cements the idea that Black people aren't capable to get into college on their own? Seems way more racist than thinking they don't need cookie points. The only metric that should matter is socioeconomic status which does correlates with race but it doesn't fuel racial tensions and it benefits all poorer students, fostering social class solidarity beyond racial lines.

Personally my main issue with affirmative action isn't really Black students being given a bonus to get in but with the fact that Asians have to outperform every other group, including whites in order to be enrolled. That's definitely unfair. By the way, Asian people aren't privileged either. Should Vietnamese immigrants be given free scholarships based on the fact that America burned their country to the ground with napalm? I agree that America needs to do something regarding historical discrimination and exclusion. Unfortunately, I think Black people shouldn't rely on the word of a state that has given them the shaft for centuries. Copy what works inside the Asian community.

@EP-nk5wm That's exactly the problem. Affirmative action for college admissions is a bandaid on a shotgun wound. It doesn't fix anything. Why focus so much on college when inequality in education starts way earlier? Reform the whole preschool to high school funding system.

LMAO, let's push for mediocrity instead. You're aware that schools offer music classes?

You really think being black is an illness/disability that makes you less able than any other person? 💀
1
No, he's not a special unicorn. This sentiment is very common among Asian-Americans. Only 21% of Asian-Americans think race should be taken into consideration for college admissions.

@legoatjagoat4691 Tons of other jobs don't require you to go into a prestigious college.

Call him Uncle Tom while you're at it. If you think black people can't get into college in a race-blind selection, well it says a lot about their performances or your prejudice.
