I'm actually very scared about what's going on in France. His term has only made Marine Le Pen and xenophobic rhetoric even more powerful.

@pacan3361 I wouldn't say smarter they just don't care.
10
@freedomgoddess I think they didn't have a government for a few years.

He said he was French in comments of another video but he can also speak Dutch if I recall correctly.

@OCTAVIANVS_AVGVSTVS_CAESAR Russian state media can destabilize neighboring countries. After seeing Transnistria and Russia's invasion of Ukraine and Crimea, Baltic countries are obviously scared of Putin using the local Russian population as a reason to invade or fuel separatism. If Russia respected the territorial integrity of its neighbors and didn't instrumentalize ethnic Russians, I'm sure they would be less seen as a threat and as fellow citizens. I personally would love to see Russia integrated into the European Union to make it a real counterweight to the US and China but sadly, it's not happening anytime soon.

@wilma3542 I assure you, a presidential system like in the US or France sucks. Electing a single candidate always ends up in dividing the country in half and the losing half can become very, very frustrated.
5
@user-dz8pg5sw6s Pretty sure Russia is worse in terms of corruption.
5
It's very unlikely we see a left coalition in 2022. The French media has spent these last several years shitting on the left and continuously gave a platform to the far right. The future looks bleak...
4
Håvard Ready to have you butt kicked once again after ruining your country and Europe as a whole?
3
@entspannter Parties on the far right like the AfD make the situation even worse. They allow for more political and social violence. Look at how things went down in the US. Has Trump has appeased the country after his 4 year term? Do you think the Republicans are less extreme now? And once elected, they want to keep the power forever by attacking democratic institutions and the justice system. Some examples: the 2020 election in America or Hungary.

The North of what? Of Europe? We are richer and we have a duty to help our European brothers and sisters bounce back from this decade long crisis. What we have to gain is stronger markets to export our products to. Poor people don't buy German cars or French perfume...

What the hell is this slogan? "Germany. But normal." Nothing normal about these wackos.
3
@hueylongdong347 I do understand the opposition to Russification but at the same time, these Russians didn't choose to move to the Baltics and most of them are born in Latvia/Estonia. By being stateless and second-class citizens, they will resent Latvia/Estonia and their cultures/languages... Can't there be bilingual schools?
3
@tom the cat123 Well, if you like democracy so much, let the Scottish vote again.

Southern Europeans and environmentalists disagree.
2
Yeah, I think we Europeans are too naive in this regard.

It's not a plan, it's only a term used in geography. The "Blue Banana" is just the nickname for the European megalopolis where most of the industrial, economic and population centers of Europe are located. These cities and countries are connected naturally through trade. It's like BosWash or the Japanese megalopolis.
2
Very inspired by Vox videos. Impressive results for a channel run by a single person.
2
I'm scared it will only continue to get worse.
2
What? No, it's to integrate them. You can't grow richer without commercial exchanges. To facilitate those, you need infrastructures.
2
Wake No. The EU already has institutions in which countries have an equal say. For example, the European Council is made up of the head of state/government (PM, President, Chancellor) of each country. So 1 country = 1 representative. Same for the European Commission where each country sends a single member. These two institutions are intergovernmental which is the type of institutions you are talking about. The only institution where bigger countries have a bigger membership is the European Parliament where even small countries have a larger representation per capita than larger countries. The Parliament is therefore a supranational political body. Also, remember that members of the EU Parliament (MEPs) are more divided along party lines than national borders. A Conservative from Germany and one from Spain will seat together whereas a French liberal and a French nationalist won't.

Actually, it's in both cities. It moves back and forth between the two cities.

@ProfezorSnayp The Blue Banana has had a 150 years head start (heart of the Industrial Revolution), that's why it's so much more developed right now. The periphery is getting slowly integrated. It takes longer but we will eventually get there!
1
Not really. Even if it's outside the EU, we will still trade and exchange with Britain. Just like Switzerland is integrated in the European economy without being a member of the EU.
1
Also, there is no megalopolis stretching from Spain to Poland...
1
I'm pretty sure France is still heavily invested in Africa...
1
Can the winning party form a minority government?
1
@ForOne814 But she paid for them to close their power plants. That's a really stupid decision. She should have focused on coal rather than nuclear. But who cares, she won't be around to witness the effets of climate change.
1
They phased out nuclear power, there's no way they will develop nuclear weapons. They can rely on France for this.
1
@juliusjanusonis4604 Do Baltic Russians want to learn the local language? I knew a Russo-Latvian guy in Paris and he wasn't very proud of his Russian heritage but spoke Latvian.

It's simple and fun
