  4. No errors here. 1) It's a list of cognates, words that have the same origin. Fr. 'chez' and Sp./It. 'casa' all come from Latin 'casa'. It's not a list of exact translations. 2) He said 'letre' as it was written and pronounced in Old French. 'Lettre' is modern French and we still don't pronounce double consonants. It's pronounced \lɛtʁ\ (only one t sound) as opposed to Italian 'lettera' \ˈlɛt.te.ra\.

  14. Absolutely not. French is clearly Latin, German and Celtic words are a small minority of the French vocabulary and the grammar is also Latin. Germanic languages and Gaulish did influence the development of French but this doesn't change the fact that French is a Romance language.

  24. Not at all. Every noun in French is gendered, like in Spanish, Italian and before them Latin, it's not due to the Académie française. The Academy only forced people to use the masculine form of some professions like "médecin" or "auteur" even for women because they were seen as superior occupations and therefore for men.
