As far as I can see, the balance of the Avadi would be possible with a traditional valvetrain. Just have the dual conrods and cranks and connect them using a pair of gears at the front and back of the engine with a side output shaft that runs in parallel to the camshafts and the two crankshafts (this achieves the avadi balance without needing to rotate the cylinder).

Let's eliminate the piston skirt friction by having a piston drive two counter-rotating crankshafts at the same time, the sideways forces would cancel out. This would require very long rods, two crankshaft, a way of connecting the two crankshafts using gears and make for a nice, unique, overly heavy, overly complicated engine.

@vvevvevvvvTo be fair, I also thought V3 only as a name, maybe like "version 3" until I saw the video and saw it was an actual V engine. YouTube should introduce a feature where people can only comment after they watched the video.

I should not have commented before the watching the video to the end. You mentioned that they are considering a different valvetrain. Ok what other weird engines do you want to debunk, Scuderi split-cycle, Hüttlin-Kugelmotor , 5-stroke engine (I think the Millikan cycle is better), Willimczik, ..., Dynacam,

The centrifugal force problem can be solved by keeping the centre stationary and rotatkng the engine case.

Or put the seals in the case instead of the"piston"

@MrSummitville No. iIam saying that if they were put in the case, the would not experience a centrifugal force, but then the piston must be off-centered so that there is a change in volume, leading to vibrations again. also each section bewtween vanes needs their own intake and exhaust valves.

@MrSummitville why not: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotary_engine

I used the words seals and vanes interchangeably...
